Kokufu-ten Prep: Shimpaku
This old juniper has been exhibited in both the Taikan-ten and the Kokufu-ten exhibitions. The owner recently requested that the tree once again be styled for an upcoming Kokufu-ten showing. Below are a few pictures of the tree as it arrived at the nursery and after initial thinning of unnecessary foliage. The styling of this massive old bonsai will be featured in an upcoming episode of our new video series “The Bonsai Art of JAPAN.” Please check back for updates about new videos, thanks.
